The difference between Portslade Health Centre and my previous practice is huge - no doubt partially due to staffing issues (and I don't dismiss that), but PHC have clearly made huge efforts to make their service easy to access and as efficient as possible. The online portal and phone consultations introduced during the pandemic have been fantastic improvements and really do make it easier for busy working people to be flexible around overstretched NHS resources. Every member of the team I have encountered (2 GPs, nurse, receptionists, and vaccination volunteers) have been friendly, professional and supportive. The practice feels clean and calm, and all appointments have taken place on-time. As a 'plus size' person I've never felt stigmatised or had unrelated symptoms brushed off as being down to my weight, which had reached a point previously of stopping me going to the GP - and when I was unwell just before Christmas, I was never made to feel like I was being 'difficult' - I was looked after and referred quickly for treatment. Finally, mental health concerns have been treated as respectfully and sensitively as any other issue. I cannot recommend this practice enough!
