The new on line appointment booking system is not fit for purpose. The questions asked do not accurately narrow down the nature of the condition. I did exactly as I was told and was made to feel guilty when they had to open up an appointment for me as the system had told me I needed to be seen within an hour. We are all individuals and no computer algorithm is going to be able to accurately assess our needs. While I can see this system will direct people to the care they need, the last thing anyone wants to be doing is answering an on line questionnaire when you are feeling unwell. I would also worry about those not computer literate.

Response from Patford House Surgery Partnership

Hello there, thanks for your feedback. I think you are talking about Doctorlink here - which is a Symptom Checker for our patients and helps us to provide our patients access to timely appointments to suit their health needs. I am sorry to hear that you feel that you were made to feel guilty that you were given an appointment within the timeframe suggested. I would love to speak to you about this in person and would be grateful if you could contact me at emmybutcher@nhs.net so we can use your experience as a learning tool for my teams. You will be pleased to know that we have dedicated clinicians who are available to provide appointments to our patients either on the day or as otherwise suggested by your Doctorlink summary and we would not want any of our patients to feel that they could not access to the care they need. We appreciate that answering an on-line questionnaire when you are feeling unwell can be frustrating, however, please be assured that these are questions which your clinician would have asked you during your consultation and by providing these beforehand not only can we offer you an appointment with the most appropriate clinician, but your summary of assessed needs can be viewed by the clinician prior to your appointment so that you can make the most out of your consultation time. I hope this helps to answer your question and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Kindest regards - Emmy Butcher, Managing Partner
