This is integrated care at its very best ..... Reception, Doctor, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy, Practice nurse, ......... A call to make an appointment, with the practice reception triage resulting in an appointment that day (1 hour later) - they assessed my need being more urgent that I. Fantastic, considered and clear initial diagnosis from Dr Pike Immediate referral for blood tests and with Southlands Hospital next door - easy. Went straight over but clinic had backlog (it happens) but it was great to be told it would be a long wait with the suggestion to come back that afternoon. Thank you On return, a 30 minute wait for the blood test - thats perfectly acceptable. Results sent back to Dr overnight, who then followed up with a call (as promised) to me to give results. This meant I could get to my job in London rather that having to work from home to attend an appointment back at the surgery (thank you) Prescription and information waiting for me at surgery reception Prescription dispensed immediately from chemists (attached to the surgery) - with helpful advice from the pharmacist, with offer of follow up telephone call next week to check medication OK Call that evening from Dr to confirm follow up appointment with nurse for tomorrow. Having access to all these specialists to help with my healthcare has been quite remarkable. Having the doctor, blood tests and pharmacy all on the same site is brilliant meaning I am able to move around the system with speed (in hours rather than days) but the healthcare professionals involved who play their part with professionalism, care and compassion are a joy. Whilst the surgery, pharmacy and hospital are all separate parts it feels like they are working in harmony together.
