16th March 2019

As my 90 year old mother was seriously in hospital in Shrewsbury I was spending my time in the locality for visiting purposes as I live in South West Wales. On the 8th March I had a minor operation in Llanelli. My mother was admitted on Sunday 10th March. I had arranged to have my stitches out on Friday 15th March in my own surgery. Due to my mother's hospitalisation I went in the surgery in Llanfyllin on Wednesday 13th March to ask if my stitches could be removed there on Friday 15th. After completing a temporary patients form I arranged an appointment for 11.00 pm. Imagine my surprise when I came back on the Friday to have my stitches removed, they had no record of my appointment on the system. I explained that I needed to visit my mother so didn't have time to come back later in the day. I waited for half an hour to see if anyone could do something but I then had to leave without the matter being resolved. There was also inconsistency on the information I received concerning the completion of the temporary patients form as I had to complete 2. One receptionist said it only lasted a day another one said it didn't. In summary I left most disappointed upset and a little angry. It seems there needs to be some serious retraining taking place. Thankfully I had my stitches removed in A&E in Shrewsbury who were far more accommodating.
