I was advised by the doctor that I should have an older person's health check (as advertised in the waiting room) and therefore I made an appointment to see the nurse for this. When I attended, at 1 pm, the nurse told me that the doctor had not specified whether I should have 'fasting' blood-tests or not and if so, I would need a morning appointment. Therefore, she would need to ask the doctor. If it is decided that I do need to have fasting blood tests, this will mean two appointments with the practice nurse instead of one - thus wasting my time as well as the nurse's. The doctor must have known that fasting bloods need to be taken in the morning and should have advised me as necessary - before telling me to make an appointment to see the nurse. When arranging an appointment with the practice nurse, the receptionist needs to know for what purpose the patient needs the appointment - and whether this will have to be before a certain time of day.
