I found most staff unhelpful when I tried to get my blood results, and was fobbed off for two days by phone and when I visited, until a sensible doctor admitted that blood tests can be checked via shared access of patient records. Two of the doctors I saw were sensible and clear, and the phlebotomist was caring and skilled. However, the receptionists insisted that if a consultant specialist had signed my blood form, but I'd had the test at the GP surgery, the surgery couldn't access the results and the oncologist had to communicate the results. Apparently the doctor had told them this. All rubbish as the records are shared and both hospital staff and GPs have access to them. I am shocked admin staff aren't aware of patient records on a shared network. I felt exhausted anyway, due to cancer effects, and it is a struggle to have to argue one's case when ill. It left a bad taste in my mouth ; a real lack of care or will to care. Blood tests for cancer patients are not that routine. I had abnormalities in mine that require treatment, too. A greater focus on patient- centred care would help.
