I sat in the reception area this morning for 25 mins waiting for my appointment with the nurse and listened to obvious abuse the receptionist was getting over the telephone because there were no appointments left. Also the abuse from walk in patients who had just come in for an argument. I sympathise with the poor receptionist who had to take this , when none of the problems were her fault. The ring in at 8am appointments system unfortunately causes people to become irate when they cannot get through , I have problems with this myself as I work in Rotherham and I am driving to work at that time, but the first come first served system I used at my old Drs still had problems. People are not very patient and the ones I witnessed this morning were downright rude and quite aggressive to the receptionist and I personally think there should be more than one receptionist on at any one time because of the area the surgery is in. The nurse I saw this morning and the Dr I saw were both lovely and very easy to talk to so I would like to say thankyou for a pleasurable visit even if listening to other people's abuse was not very nice.
