When you can actually get to see a Dr they are fine but due to continued Locum cover, there is a lack of care consistancy. False economy of time when you have to explain yourself every visit. Like life, some receptionists are modern, helpful & prepared to go the extra mile whilst some there are dinosaurs that see their job is to keep the Drs safe from nasty patients ! I once tried to get an appt at 2.30 on a Friday for my 2yr old. He had pus running from his ear ! I was told there was no one available & to ring 111. I did, went through all the questions etc to be told I'd have to ring again at 6 (I think) when their out of hours started. I rang at 6, went through the system again. Someone phoned me back & I was given an appt at Clacton Hosp. We returned home at 8pm with antibiotics. Why was it necessary to submit a 2yr old to this sort of treatment - or lack of ! It is nigh on impossible to get an appointment now. To be told that you have to ring in tomorrow for an appointment as they've all gone is ridiculous. Dare I say that the chaotic old phone system was better !! I have two issues that I'm deterred from seeking advice from because of lack of appointments, which could be life-altering or even shortening. How is this even possible in this day & age. People's healthcare should not be at the mercy of profit. ACE - back door privatisation of the NHS at its finest.
