Over the last 25 years I have always had the very best care at the Crouch Oak Family Practice, from healthcare assistants and nurses to GPs. I have been a regular patient due to several serious health issues, most recently a serious chronic condition - I admit it can be difficult to get continuity by seeing the same GP, but I have always found that the receptionists try their best by prioritising cases, and on occasion i have been pleasantly surprised to get a call not from the duty GP but from my own doctor, who tries his best to provide continuity and has intercepted the call. If you need to see a GP on the day, the triage system works well, prioritising patients by the seriousness of the condition, and a doctor will ring you back and ask you to attend the surgery if necessary. This is a very busy surgery, the only one in an expanding town, and it can take a while to get through but you will. An example of excellent care - I recently rang with discomfort in my leg, a hospital scan 10 days earlier had shown nothing of concern. The (new?) duty doctor invited me in to the surgery and, although I had no obvious signs of a blood clot, he sent me for an urgent scan which I had at 8am the next day. This revealed a clot and I was immediately put on blood-thinning medication. I saw this GP 3 times in one day following the scan, once to demonstrate how to inject, nothing was too much trouble - and I was relieved that his efficiency had detected a potentially very serious condition!
