The practice is giving an efficient service. I have no criticism of them
When having a smear it can be quite daunting, especially when coming back for a 6 month check up after having a Lletz procedure to have abnormal cells removed.
I informed the nurse I find smears rather painful, I just wanted to make her aware, but of course she must do what she's got to do. I do not expect for the response to be her abruptly saying "well I don't know why you find them painful because you shouldn't". As you can imagine, this made me feel silly and also like I was making it up, which I know I'm not and the pain I feel is real. I absolutely would not be sharing with someone with so little empathy that I was raped in the local area in 2022, quite brutally, and it could well have something to do with that! I would recommend trauma-informed training so other patients don't leave feeling how I did.
I booked my appointment on 11th April - nearly 6 weeks later, on 21st May I saw the doctor for a 5 minute chat.
Long delays when requesting an appointment.
I've only used the telephone system. Queueing is a tedious process. It is useful to know your position in the queue. If the number is too great it's not worth the stress of waiting. There have been times when an offer for the surgery to ring back is made. This is really useful and is an option that I will use if offered.
