I was asked to make an appointment to discuss the results of a blood test. I chose a remote appointment. The doctor highlighted a marginally high cholesterol count and recommended I take statins.
Suggested improvements
I was my choice to have a telephone appointment, but in the event a face-to-face appointment to discuss options and my specific needs would have been better.
I think there was opportunity on the call to outline the causes of high cholesterol levels, advice on how to bring it down, and whether I could monitor it myself. Taking tablets for the rest of my life is not something I want to do.
I was provided with links to information about statins, and told there would be the oppoetunity to discuss it with the practice before making a decision.
