Following a major chest surgery one of the drain sites failed to hold together causing a 2.5 cm deep whole in my chest. These problems can happen with no fault to anybody but can become extremely dangerous, leading to sepsis and possibly death if the whole is not packed daily and kept free of infection. Following a phone call to the surgery Dr Holden phoned me straight back and I was seen immediately by the Advanced Nurse Practitioner who cleaned it, packed it and arranged for the receptionist to organise daily appointments for me. Dr Holden phoned through to the nurse to ask if she wanted him to look at it. After almost two weeks of daily cleaning and repacking the whole is now under one cm with no sign of infection. Thank you to the entire staff for great care.
