I called for an appointment. I was advised to call back first thing in the morning. when attempting this, it took approximately 2 hours to get through, only to be told to call back in the morning again (i was very late to work). I explained an informative advert i had recently seen advising anyone with a persistent cough to contact the GP. I think 2 months is "persistent". I explained this and was offered an appointment that day. This may sound like a good result. But i should add that the person deciding whether or not i receive medical attention is not medically trained. I politely questioned (honest, no sarcasm or ill manners) how in one call i had gone from no appointment to having one. They simply replied with my appointment time and hurried me off the phone. I attended the appointment the next day and used the digital sign in machine. The details and appointment time were a different patient. I approached the reception station and stood patiently at the wait point to be called. After a few second, i was prompted to step forward. I had noticed the staff member holding her phone. I could see it on the desk. Facebook was still open. I pointed out the machine error. The response "if you'd like to take a seat" with a signaling hand gesture. I would of thought a member of the public seeing other patients appointment details is worth mentioning. But oh well..... When i saw the doctor, the usual questions both generic and specific to my reason for attendance. The thing that really ticked me off and made me write this was that he didn't believe i don't and have never smoked. He kept asking with a kind of "oh come on" tone and added "you must have tried one when you were younger". To add some context, I run regularly, am fit and healthy (touch wood) and was being passively accused of lying. This was before any form of medical examination took place.
