I woke up this morning with a large and painfuk abscess on my right ring finger. I telephoned the surgery late in the morning and asked for an appointment and was offered one with a nurse practitioner that afternoon at 15.35. I arrived at 15.35 and booked in using the convenveniient booking in screnn which was on the wall next to to the receptionists desk. This booked me is and and advised me that the surgery would like to have my mobile telephone number. I spoke to the the very helpful receptionist who promptly gave me a short form to fill in for my contact details. Could I kindly suggest that this form is updated to iclude other details such as my e-mail address as well as other health related information which may be useful in the future. After a short wait I was seen by a very polite and helpful nurse, Naomi Frater, who looked at my finger and thought it neede further advice from a doctor. She advised me that I would be seen shortly by one of the doctors on duty. I waited in the comfortable waiting room and was impressed in the way the receptionist dealt with a number of of often difficult and demandinf patients. After a wait of less than 15 minutes I was seen by a young lady doctor (Dr Conway??) who informed me that she was working as a locum at the surgery. She dealt with my abscess quickly and efficiently and offered me a course of antibiotic treatment to be taken if my condition deteriorated. She also noted that I had not had an NHS check and advised me that it could be performed if I wanted one. I found my experience to be perfect in every regard. I could have attended the A&E dept and sat ther for hours but my problem was sorted out within a very short period of time. Thank you for some excellent care.
