We are writing to you to make you aware of our concerns about the levels of care being provided by Beech House Surgery to Anne Hanley [DOB 14/5/1942]. On a number of occasions, following routine blood tests, Anne was informed that her Kidney Function readings were reducing, the latest being down to 41%. However no explanations were given or actions proposed. It was only when this was questioned in a discussion with a GP that an immediate referral to a Renal Consultant was made and a series of actions undertaken. This could [should?] have been done at least two years earlier. Following the Consultant appointment, a letter was received from Beech House Surgery requesting that an appointment be made to see a GP. At 6pm on the night before the appointment, a phone call was received cancelling the appointment. The next earliest appointment offered was almost four weeks away. However at our insistence, an earlier appointment [two weeks] was made available with a different GP to the one who instigated the earlier referral. Since then, the same thing has happened again with appointments being cancelled at very short notice. When we queried this with Reception, we were told to call first thing in the morning and make an on the day appointment. However, when we have done this previously, the GP informed us that these appointments were for emergencies only and in the time available it was not possible to discuss and explain in the way we were requesting, and that a routine appointment should be made!
