Impossible to get an urgent appointment, receptionists act a gatekeepers preventing entry to the service rather than trying to help. When 111 arranged a same day appointment I didn't get a call back and when I called in to ask why I was told it was seen but the doctor decided not to bother (and no one cared to tell me). The only appointment I was able to book was 4 days away and then on the day it was cancelled with no explanation and no offer of another appointment unless I rang in. Calling the surgery to book an appointment means waiting in a queue for the best part of an hour. I asked to speak to the practice manager and was told I'd get a call back... still waiting for this

Make appointments easy to book (maybe have enough staff to cope with telephone demand or signpost for a way to book without calling in) Offer same day appointments Offer a new appointment when cancelling but ideally don't cancel
