The Doctors are great - it's getting to them that's the problem. It's never been so difficult to get an appointment so clearly the pressure on the service is increasing. Not being able to book non urgent appointments some time ahead is really irritating. Appointment system generally frustrating. Have ended up booking an urgent appointment when not really needed as no option to book one further into the future. My husband has had the experience of Receptionists telling him to ring back in a week for blood tests, when the Doc had told him to call the next day! In the end, after being fobbed off a second time, on a Friday (and being told to call again the following Tuesday) we came home to find 2 Doctors had tried to get hold of him on our home number - we are out at work during the day - so we had the anxiety of not knowing how serious this was. Then he was told on the Monday that a letter was in the post - a further night of anxiety and not knowing what the problem was.
