I went to this surgery to register my 88 year old housebound mother who had just moved 2 mins from the surgery, having picked up the form earlier in the day. The receptionist took the form looked at it and then asked when she first came into the country, i replied that she was born here, she then said you need to put in the nhs number i replied that she does not know this she replied that they would not accept it without this. I asked if she could look it up on the spine, she replied no, i then said that this was stupid because as soon as they start the registration the number will come up,i do registration of patients so i know that this is fact, no would not accept the form. Having checked this out this surgery CANNOT refuse to accept ANY registration without an nhs no, and how many people know their number, let alone an 88 year old! I suggest you check the BMA website and Citizens Advice. If this is the way they treat a prospective patient i hate to think how they treat their registered patients
