Had a diagnosis of a medical condition by a hospital when i was 14, i was not educated on it properly so i did not know i had to take my medication, GP knew of my condition but did not care to follow up, meaning i lived another 3 years unaware that i had to take compulsory medication for my condition, probably would have developed heart disease if this had continued. Luckily i searched it up on the internet and found out I had said condition (SO I BASICALLY DIAGNOSED MYSELF) then I had to submit their fancy e-consult (which takes ages to get a reply for, even now) and was finally told to pick up medication from the pharmacy. If i hadn't searched up my symptoms myself i would have been left to rot. The receptionists are fine but the quality of service, or the time it takes to get your service is terrible. Sometimes you just won't get an appointment or they will blatantly ignore you no matter the number of "e-consults" you do. Also they don't like giving out blood tests, their pretty stingy about it. Not the ideal place to seek help from for those who aren't already on their death bed or don't have a vitamin deficiency because that is all they treat ( yes vitamin deficiencies). Most of the nurses and doctors aren't bad, that isn't the issue, they are very polite actually, THE ISSUE IS THAT YOU NEVER GET TO SEE THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE! Because your issue has to be severe enough for you too even be seen face to face. If not then they'll just send you straight to the pharmacy even though they haven't consulted you about your illness face to face to know what's actually going on. I'm just told to take paracetamol for every type of pain I suffer from, so by the time i am done with the pain i can go to them for liver failure ( and probably be told to complete an e-consult about it too). Overall i feel bad for trash talking them, they aren't bad guys and I've been with them for years, but they used to be so considerate back then, nowadays though it just feels like the GP doesn't care anymore. I just can't get through to them and get the health care that I need. I've given up on my health because of this, you can't get any help from 111 or a hospital without a GP referral but the GP takes literal years to even listen to, process and then send your referral, by then your so tired of constantly going here and there and waiting, that you just give up or your disease kills you. Also i don't think this GP actually cares about the concept of mental health, just putting that out there. Your choice if you want to sign up here though, but I believe I will either soon be registering elsewhere and finally get some help or if I cannot then my condition will probably take me to the underworld.

Suggested improvements
  • The GP could respond to their so called e-consults faster, they can also try to book more face to face appointments, do faster referrals, take the patient's mental health seriously too, don't be too stingy with their tests. Give some consideration to those suffering from mild illnesses and give them good quality consultations too. Most importantly make sure to follow up on children who have been diagnosed with conditions because, i don't know about adults, but i know for a fact that children aren't smart or responsible enough to monitor their own health. Plus you can't expect a kid to approach the GP for follow up appointments or blood tests, i mean you can't even expect some adults to do that. So maybe don't wait for the patient to remind you that they are dying and probably check up on them once in a while instead of spamming them with messages to take the flu vaccine.
