On the whole the Rookery Medical centre is very good I am pleased with the level of service I receive , the staff are pleasant and helpful

Dr wace as soon as you go in her room she puts you at ease I was laughing after my appointment she is absolutely the best

Each time I have rang reception is so helpful and understanding and have always helped me by reassuring me and arranging for me to speak to doctor via the telephone and then subsequently I had face to face appointments. The doctors have been exceptional Inc a trainee doctor.

This medical practice is atrocious. Firstly it took 3 days for a doctor to make a visit to a nursing home to authorise pain medication for my aunt on end of life care. Having finally coming out of hospital pain free, there was absolutely no reason for someone to suffer. The doctors didn't seem to care. My blind, bed bound aunt, unable to eat drink, on her own, relying on everyone to do everything for her, spent a third of a week in great pain because a doctor put off doing a small part of their job, that would have taken very little. Then when she did die, they refused to come out and verify death. Contrary to what I was told the procedure would be by the care home. I cannot imagine that verifying death for a doctor is not normal practice. it seems that when Covid was rampant many practices passed the buck to care / nursing homes and other entities to verify death. Now Covid is not an issue per se, this practice is still using that excuse to lessen their workload. They will instead sign a death certificate at some point later with a hands off approach. As if that is acceptable practice for someone who should have a level of care to their patients. I question why these doctors are doctors. It certainly doesn't seem to be because they have a calling of care. Their utter refusal at a most stressful time for relatives tells it all. They then wonder why people are angry and then go on to be blamed people for a reaction to their tardiness and evasion of their work. As if they are faultless and everything they do is right. This is Modern day NHS doctoring. Funny how it wouldn't happen in the private sector. If the doctors are in any way concerned then it should be a part of their work to change the system.

Generally a good surgery, but the need for a telephone appointment first on every occasion is challenging for those working/driving during the day. Secondly it’s quite hard getting through to the surgery (on hold 20-25 mins sometimes, then often cut off, despite being caller ‘number 1’ for all of that time!). With fewer patients in surgery and more remote appointments, I don’t fully understand why it’s harder now to get through to reception than it was pre-pandemic? The system absolutely shouldn’t cut you off.

I wish to record my experience with the GPs and Staff at the Rookery Medical Centre. These wonderful people work very hard to fulfil a great service to their patients and always have time for them. I have been a patient at the Surgery for the past 60 years and recently have had exceptional care from Dr Wace and other Staff which has prompted me to write this, to say thank you to them. Apart from the Dr's we have had a lot of experience of the nursing team as I had venous ulcers. They have been wonderful. Professional, thoughtful, reliable and effective. So all now better after several weeks of regular dressings.
