If you have a family and need to take them to school, forget trying to get an appointment at this GP. They only take phone appointments at 8am, which anyone with children will know is one of the busiest times of the day trying to get the dressed and out of the door. I really don't like giving staff who are not medically trained, details of my probems. I even begged the receptionist to make me an appointment for the following week, but the receptionist just said "oh well, there is nothing I can do" when i explained the earliest I can call after drop off at about 8.40am each day. They have no care or empathy at all. It makes me wonder what the reception staff do after 8am apart from be objectionable for the rest of the day. Tolcross Medical centre, Braids and Buckstone are a much better medical practice as they allow parents to either walk in, make an appointment online or dont have a daft rule about only giving appointments out at 8am.

Suggested improvements
  • Scrap this ridiculous policy of only giving out appointments at 8am. Allow people to make appointments not for the same day if not urgent but for the following week or weeks later. Try empathising with busy people rather than think you are masters of the world and everyone needs to do what you say. Please remember you work for the public, you do not rule over us.

I moved to Edinburgh exactly one year ago and joined Morningside Medical Practice. One month later I developed a condition that has required regular attention - blood tests plus phone and face to face appointments at a time which has been so difficult for everyone. I am delighted with the service I have received from all the staff at Morningside Surgery. They are always polite and helpful. The receptionists who answer the phone and trek endlessly from their desks to the front door and back. The nurses who have administered the blood tests. The secretary who phoned to discuss an issue. And of course the doctors. I have spoken to them on the phone and have met 4 doctors face to face. As you can see I am very lucky to have joined Morningside Medical Practice and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you very much, for the care I have received in the last year. Moira

Suggested improvements
  • Just for fun - maybe rotate the music we listen to on the phone while waiting for a call to reach the front of the queue.
