Impossible to get an appointment. Cant get through on phone - the web form they have is only available at certain times of the day (and randomly not avaiable) - which completely defeats the purpose of having a web form.

At the beginning of October I called the practice to request an appointment with a Doctor. Despite explaining the issues that I was having, which clearly required a face to face consultation, I was forced to accept an initial telephone appointment. The telephone appointment I was offered was nearly 3 weeks later on the 25th of October! I asked for an earlier appointment but was refused. I was told that the Doctor would call between 9 and 12. I work but I cleared my diary on the 25th because I wanted to be available when the Doctor called. I waited and no call came. At 14.00 I decided to call the practice. I waited on the line for 40 minutes to get through. I'm supposed to be working, but instead I'm getting messed about by my GP. Eventually someone answered and said that the Doctor calls when he is ready and that just means that patients have to wait. I wasn't very impressed. Later that day the Doctor finally called and as I suspected all along he wanted to see me. He gave me an appointment for today 1/11/24 at 10.00 He then went on to give me a condescending lecture about how his time was important, how he could decide to change his priorities and how he did not like my "tone" when I was talking to the receptionist! This person who is too busy to call people on time has the time to listen to calls before talking to patients! I responded by saying that my "tone" would have been far less frustrated if he had actually bothered to call on time and if I had not been held waiting for 40 minutes before getting through. I also pointed out that I had waited nearly 3 weeks for this call when his own target is to provide calls within 2 weeks! This service is not free. It might be free at the point of use but I pay for this support through my significant tax payments. Who does this guy think he is that he can decide what is and isn't acceptable. He told me that if I didn't like the service that he provided then I could go elsewhere. So, I did. I registered for a new GP. Today, when I arrived for my appointment at 10:00 I was told it had been cancelled. No message to warn me. I had to turn up in order to find out. Mearns Medical Centre is not fit for purpose. It is managed based on what is best for the staff, not focused on what is best for the patient.

Last November and two days ago I was sent a text inviting me to have the flu injection. Last year the receptionist was extremely rude to me telling me that I wasn’t eligible for the injection and when I phoned today I was told the same although the receptionist was nicer. I am extremely annoyed that I should have received the texts when I shouldn’t have. I would like to know why this has happened. I almost felt that they thought that I was making it up that I had received the texts.
