I have been recently diagnosed with cancer and my GP ,Dr K Weedon proactively called me in to see how I was dealing with the situation and asking what she could do to help. That is what I call a first class service. Showing a professional caring attitude.

This gp practice don’t have any duty of care. Gp manager and receptionist over ridding decision of the doctors from the walking centre in crawley. After having bad side effect after my Covid vaccine GP declined to give me appointment and even phone consultation and duty doctor from walking centre request urgent blood test however receptionist and gp manager declined to give me even phone consultation and print the form for blood test to do in crawley hospital. I been assessed by doctor in walking centre and by 111 and urgent blood test been request by them this gp still declined to give me form for full blood test and also kidney and thyroid blood test. As been essential worker and face everyday Covid in my workplace face to face they still wasn’t helpful at all to give me appointment and support I need. That behaviour from receptionist and gp manager is disgracefull and disrespectful. I’m very disappointed and I hope one day guy you will face exactly the same situation as I believed in karma. I feel so sorry for you that you can’t recognise dangers of the side effect of Covid vaccine and you still refused to offer me help to print piece of paper to do my blood test. I feel so sorry for you and to be honest I think you need more training and understanding.

Although tricky to get a routine appointment like at many surgeries, if you are unwell, you can get a same day appointment if needed by phoning first thing in the morning and being triaged. Great surgery and great staff all round.

I have had a number of occasions in the previous 6 months where I have had to see a doctor.I have been treated with respect and have received appropriate good care. The most recent doctor with whom I han a consultation was a trainee doctor she was absolutely marvellous and made what could have been a very uncomfortable experience far more tolerable. 0

I recently visited the surgery with a urine infection, unfortunately the anti biotics did not clear it so I called into the surgery where it was arranged for the doctor to phone me later that afternoon. After a quick chat with the doctor it was arranged that I dropped in another urine sample where I saw another member of staff who arranged a further prescription for me to collect. It was also arranged for an appointment the same afternoon for another matter. I cannot fault Furnace Green Surgery, great considerate service.

My family have been cared for at this Surgery since 1986 and have never had cause to be disappointed. All staff should be commended for their support and professionalism.

Response from the doctor - Thank you so much for your kind and honest words. Unfortunately too many people wish to moan about services instead of realising the extreme pressure we are all under.

Week ago exactly (Wednesday) I had wrist fracture surgery following non fault road traffic accident of my left hand and metal elements were used to put bones together. During discharge I noticed my summary stated AKI which is acute kidney injury and required to be checked if it is resolved after a week time at GP by repeating U&E test. In Saturday however I have moved to a new town closer to my work as it was planned long time ago and my usual GP became very distant from me and even by public transport that would be a long journey (combination of trains/buses) not mentioning rainy weather, broken hand on a sling and difficulties with mobility it is causing. Logical was for me to register with a GP which is local to me, I have looked for nearest GP to my new place of living, the one that was accepting patients. I visited their website, downloaded and prefilled reg. form. Noted no registrations in Monday, so finally in Wednesday I went there early morning (8:30) to register and discuss my requirement of U&E test. Their website states "We do not register patients on a Monday morning due to the heavy workload which accumulates over the weekend. Where possible, we would prefer patients to come after 2pm in the afternoons, Tuesday - Friday." I do appreciate that all, but given my urgent change of circumstances I expected that in worst case I will be asked to wait a moment when they will have time to process me. At reception desk I was welcomed by lady named "Kim" who straight away dismissed me saying that they don't accept new registrations at this time of day. I have tried to explain my circumstances and why it is important to me, at her first interruption she said I should go back to my previous GP, I asked if she dont mind if I finish what I'm trying to say but she was constantly interrupting and saying there are patients waiting (I didn't jump the queue either) and I need to come at other time, she hand me some piece of paper saying registrations only tue-fri 1:30 - 3:30 - not what website says exactly. I do understand that not everyone has urgent matter, and possibly it may be easy for a person to come twice a day when they drive etc. I however am not that lucky person. NHS is using 6Cs which stands for Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage and Commitment to provide better service. I wish this GP surgery would learn about that too despite it is a private business so they do what they like.

Appointment are given in 3-4 weeks in best case scenario. Excuse me, in 4 weeks I am either dead or healthy, why would I need a doctor in 4 weeks? We were never able to get to a doctor in this surgery even if it was urgent. The receptionists are utterly rude. They make me feel that I am not welcomed in this country and I have to get out of this country. The doctors are incompetent. They work like in gambling house: prescribe a cream, if it does not help then get another, if second cream does not help then get third cream. After that, if you still have problems and you beg for referral he/she might consider referring you to a dermatologist, which later finds out that you did not even need any cream and you damaged your skin with those creams. This surgery is like automatic vendor machine: took blood, results were not ok, received a call to pick up the prescription, no chance to discuss the matter with a doctor. No explanation what caused the decease and what prevents it of occurring in the future. I was not even able to see the results of the blood test.
