Before I recently moved out of the catchment area, I was a patient at Elmbank Medical group for several years. In the last few days before my registration ended, I unfortunately developed tonsillitis for the first time. I was also experiencing a delay in getting registered at my new practice so could not yet visit them, so I tried to make an appointment at Elmbank. When I joined the queue for appointments that morning, I started in 19th place. I thought I would have no hope in seeing anyone that day, however to my amazement when I got through to reception I was scheduled for a same day GP call back. I received this at approximately 12.30 pm and after talking to a GP on the phone was given a face to face appointment 2 hours later. I was seen by a lovely doctor who diagnosed me and prescribed antibiotics which I collected all before 3 o' clock. I know GP practices are under a lot of pressure at the moment and I hear some people saying they struggle to see a GP, but I could not fault Elmbank that day one bit. I wanted to write this to feed back that I appreciate the wonderful dynamics of that whole practice and how attuned they were to making me feel well.

Depending on which member of staff answers the telephone is how you can rate the service one of the staff is very incompetent at her job , and depending on her mood you might get an appointment or she might pass on your request for a doctor to call you back . I complained about her on a previous occasion and since then I have been treated very badly by her and the practice manager . If you ask to speak to the practice manager that’s a no no he wouldn’t want to hear complaints about his friends .The doctors,nurses and other staff are second to non really great at their jobs and always civil and helpful, it’s with regret I am posting this review but this treatment is affecting my health

Receptionist on phone extremely rude! As for Doctors its a lucky dip on who you get, some are fantastic and yet others speak to you like a idiot! There is a lack of respect for other human beings at Elm Bank Practice. I am extremely disappointed in the level of service they offer.

I have been registered with this surgery all my 50+ years and have always found the standard of care good. I do agree that it is now more difficult to see your requested doctor (2 week wait usually) but I've always got an appointment when I've needed one and have no problems with this surgery. I like that you can get a separate appointment when you need to see the nurse if that's what's required. They are keeping up with the times and now send a text to remind you of an appointment which is good. Sadly doctors come and go but they do seem to retain a core of well qualified long term incumbents.

I was shocked to see some of the reviews. obout this surgery.I moved to this sjurgery about 3 years ago and have found staff and GPS excellent. If I want to see a specific GP yes I have to wait perhaps a couple of weeks but if I'm ill I'll see any doctor. Urgent appointments are always available on the day or a GP can phone you with advice.. I have always been treated with the utmost respect from all GPS I've seen at the practice. My advice to unhappy patients would be to go to a different GP practice.

It's too difficult to get an appointment with the dr of choice, often a 3 week wait which just isn't acceptable. Reception staff just don't care. I was recently sent up the ward from the GP and came back with a prescription from the consultant that said urgent on it...receptionist looked at me blankly and told me I couldn't have it until after 5 pm. The GP just looks like he's going through the motions, follows a set pattern every time you speak to him and drifts up and down the corridor. Elmbank needs to get its act together and provide some illusion of caring.

Truly terrible surgery they have no respect for patients, they do not take a complaint seriously even if the doctor is being investigated by the GMC. To improve they need to understand that patients have to be listened to , absolutely appalled.
