I have was diagnosed with cancer a few years back and have since made a full recovery. During this period my Doctor, the nurse and the reception staff were brilliant. This was especially appreciated as at the time I was working Freelance, so if I couldn't work I would be in difficulty, financially. The Practice was really understanding about my situation and went out of their way to be supportive, in allowing me to fit my appointments around my work commitments, even when sometimes these were last minute changes. If it wasn't for this help I would have probably had the added stress of having to give up my contract. I have recently had to go back for an unrelated matter and find the level of care still as good.

The staff are disgusting. I have just had a guy shouting at me down the phone that there is no appointments for the next months. So rude! What ever happened to customer service!

It is almost impossible to get an appointment and even worse if it has to be with an specific doctor. Even then some of the doctors are very unsympathetic. I have been ill for a long time and they refuse to refer me. Alot of patients are feeling the same way and some of the female receptionists need to mind their manners. You will be told there's no appointments then you hear them giving someone else one. Some of the doctors refuse go acknowledge your problems though there is a couple who are lovely but you cannot get them.

Never been to see a doctor in 5 years as I keep reasonably good health..wanted to discuss a few things with her as it had taken me so long to get an appointment...felt this doctor was off no help to me at all.. didn't take time to listen to or examine me...total waste off time...and she made me feel as though I'd wasted her time... can't even remember her name as she didn't introduce herself when I went into room... got to say for a doctor...she was very uncaring and made me feel like I was just wasting her time

I’m lucky that I have reasonably good health & rarely require to see a GP or nurse. I agree that trying to get through for an appointment/speak to GP/nurse it is extremely frustrating. However, when I did get through a GP phoned back within the hour & all resulting future treatment/referral speedily dealt with. Some of the reception staff are abrupt (to the point of rudeness). Having previously worked in a GO surgery, perhaps the practice manager should send them on one of the (many) course available.

Dalkeith medical center has the worse reception staff a company could ask for, let alone a medical practise ...witnessed first hand how unhelpful they are unless your face is familiar to the staff behide the desk ...my partner suffers from a b12 condition where she has to be injected or SHOULD be ..my partner was told there was no appointments for 11th November would have call in 2 weeks time to find a appoinntment beacuse her diary don't go that far???? Ironicly her diary was on a computer software witch I myself am familiar with the use of . Will leave readers to figure this out for them selfs ...long behold on leaving the gp I returned without partner 4 mins after this pack of lies we where told at desk to collect my daughter's gloves she had left. In a desperate bid I waited in the line to request she look at the diary again and in the nicest possible way ask her to do her job ..to my amazement the woman behind the desk was making a appointment for a check up on a man for 11th November ...there was no appointments avalible for the 11th November ?? ..along with the constant dilemmas we have nearly every time with this practice this was the final nail . I have personally written to hollyrood ..and to hear that a whole care home located in dalkeith has had to move 2 miles up the road to another gp because how disracful this practice . That alone speaks volumes ..would urge everyone to complain to councils and parlament to investigate this practise as alot of our money we pay in tax went into building this stunning looking facility to be treated like sitting ducks by the I'll manoured and disrespectful staff ..

Any dealings I have had with Dalkeith Medical Practice was on behalf of my father. On two occasions when he fell at home, on phoning I was asked to bring him to the surgery straightaway. Another time he fell when he was in Dalkeith and I took him into the surgery and again he was seen within 5/10 minutes of arriving. On every occasion he was seen by a nurse and then checked over by the doctor. All staff from the receptionists to the nurses and doctors who he saw on each occasion were very caring and professional.

The comments about trying to get a appointment are true. It’s almost impossible .Hower I staggered into the surgery on Tuesday in a not very good state . Once I managed to see the doctor he couldn’t have been more caring and got me taken to hospital

Very poor care service line engaged from 8am when you eventually get through no appointments are left ..appointments can't be made in advance therefore your condition gets worse and you need urgent treatment.
