I’ve been with this surgery for many many years. Their appointment system has improved a little ie when you’re on hold to speak to reception you at least know where you are in the queue. But it still takes forever to actually get through. I recently managed to get through at 8.01 only to be told I was number 18!!! In the queue. I usually see the same doctor and they are good but it seems to depend on the time of day. If I get a morning or early afternoon appointment the dr seems to be more engaged with me and I feel listened to by someone who cares about me and my concerns. But if it’s a late in the day appointment I have felt (less often rather than all the time) it was more about getting to the end of their day quickly rather than asking me how I felt or was I happy with what they had said. I know there are restrictions on how many patients a gp can see but don’t forget that some patients, even the ones you know well, still need the time that they need - whether it’s 5 mins or 15 mins. I like the gp I see and they know me which does help with the consultation. Overall I am really happy with this practice, there are just a few niggles for me. I would not want to change practice

  • Please please sort out the appointment process. I get that phone appointments are usually quicker than face to face but sometimes, even if it’s just a minor thing, face to face is better. And if you see someone (Dr, Nurse, Physio) regularly, make it easy to make the follow up appointment with them no matter how far in advance it is.

Unless you get through at 8 am any time after 8.01 am when you have 25 plus waiting list their is little likely hood of an appointment. Should be better for patient's instead of surgery

Very near impossible to get a appointment,receptionists unhelpful,not seen a doctor face to face for over 3 years. Staff seem to want to make things as difficult as possible for their patient. I have been a patient for nearly forty years and this surgery is steadily getting worse, it seems that patients are a inconvenience.I feel it's about time that the surgery started putting their patients first. Would not recommend this practice, their policies and attitude are adding to patients stress and they seem to do everything in their power to make things awkward. Dreadful service.

  • Sort out the appointment system it's a joke. Staff should be retrained and remember they are there to help/advise patients ,not to put obstacles in the way. Let patients see a doctor,you are not a secret society,make doctors accessible.

I’ve been a patient at this surgery for a long time and it has changed so much since I first became a patient, mostly for the best. It is difficult to get through on the phone and also hard to get an urgent appointment some times. However the staff I have seen, both doctors and nurses have been very good. I am overall very happy with the service from this practice.

  • Make it easier for your patients to get a short notice appointment and understand their reluctance to give very personal information to anyone other than a doctor.

The folks here are exceptional from reception onwards - the receptionists are genuinely lovely and happy to help; I’ve never felt they’ve been intrusive which is appreciated. I always come away from my appointments feeling listened to by the GPs I’ve seen (and I’ve probably seen most of them at some point by now). The communication is also top-notch: it’s quite probably the best practice that I have been lucky enough to be registered with.

The new system in place due to Covid 19 restrictions works well. You can be on hold for a while but once you get through there are available telephone appointments every day.

Suggested improvements
  • Use the NHS video call system so patients and doctors can see who they are talking to. You will get much more out of appointments if doctors can see the patients’ expressions and body language.

It is easier at the moment to get an appointment as it is only telephone appointments. I hope the ease of getting appointments continues when normal service resumes after Covid lockdown eases. I hope the surgery does reintroduce face to face appointments. A phone appointment is fine but it’s not the same as sitting with a doctor.

  • Introduce video call appointments during covid lockdown. Lots of other medical services have done this.

It’s much easier to get an appt at the moment as all doctors are available for phone calls (during lockdown). However one way to make this better for patients would be if the surgery had the option of video calls - zoom, FaceTime. It would be very beneficial to see who you are speaking with. A nice human touch.
