After several attacks of gout, of course requiring immediate treatment for the considerable pain caused, I was eventually prescribed allopurinol. I was told this would be daily for the rest of my life. Since taking this tablet each day I have never had a recurrence of the gout and would definitely recommend anyone to take this course of action if possible.
