Great service today.
Friendly, generally ease of parking, clean and welcoming
The service and care was excellent it was our first visit so very daunting the nurses were great made us feel positive and assuring
Unfortunately, these high standards are not available in every department.
Saw Dr. David Staples concerning weight loss that seemed to be excessive (type 2 diabetic) and naturally I felt bothered with it. Tests for cancer were conducted (CT, Bloods taken,) This appointment was for results and it was found that Cancer wasn't the "culprit", Clear of Cancer. I was treated with great Kindness and respect by Dr Staples and the Nurse in attendance. All questions were answered. I was put at complete ease and as a result stopped being worried sick with the concern of Cancer.
My wife was admitted to repair a hip fracture. The first ward she was on had mainly elderly patients with mental health problems as well as orthopedic issues. This meant sleeping was nigh on Impossible due to their shouting and other unusual behaviour. The staff did well under very trying conditions, but it was less than ideal. After surgery she was moved to an adjacent ward which was much quieter with normal patients. Again the nurses and health assistants were very good. The food was considerably better than when my sister in law was a patient here several years ago. Good choice and in general well prepared with decent size portions.
The physiotherapy was another story, the two woman she saw were totally lacking in empathy. Their only aim was to have me discharged at the earliest possible time. They seemed to be on a mission to free up beds rather than give proper consideration to patient aftercare.
Overall the experience was average, some very good such as the nurses, but badly let down in my case by the physiotherapists.
no complaints at all
I have asked for a name on several occasions of the patient experience team. I don’t have a complaint. my care plan which I will say for the Gastro consultant communication was excellent.
I do not need to see PALS. I wish to compliment some staff at the front of the hospital and raise concerns about others.
Pros and cons
Hospital appointments timely.
Clinical teams nice and welcoming
Front of hospital unorganised.
Parking instructions awful
Despite the negative publicity regarding the NHS I have always felt the hospital has treated me well. The oncology ward for day patients are an amazing team who show so much care towards there patients . Thank you to them all.
Really good experience couldn't ask for more from a hospital from reception staff to clinical team. Would attend Peterbough hospital any time for treatment.
