My niece was is hospital due to having an inflamed stomach and an inflamed bowel. She was in A&e for 30 hours while waiting for a bed on a ward. Once on the ward, which was ward 36, the staff were terrible. One nurse in particular kept refusing to give my niece the pain medication AND the antisickness she was prescribed, despite a conversation my niece had with her doctor about this issue, it persisted, resulting in my niece being left in pain and feeling sick for three days. In the end, we as a family encouraged her to come home. Upon arriving home a community nurse came out to see her only to discover that my niece was severely dehydrated, had a temperature of 38.9 and had an infection.
The nurse on ward 36 had labelled my niece as “drug seeking” due to her consistently asking for pain relief, which was never given, or if it was then it was a mild pain relief that didn’t help because she was expected to swallow it even though her stomach couldn’t digest it due to it being very inflamed.
The quality of care was very poor. My niece was suffering and the nurses didn’t do anything to alleviate her suffering due their own prejudice and opinions.
Absolute great care whilst on ward 4, made my various stays bearable.
After suffering a detached retina in my right eye I was operated on by Mr Colsen and effectively saved my sight in the right eye even with macular detachment. 3 months later detachment occurred in my left eye which was repaired by Mr Ellabban. I am highly delighted and forever grateful to the skills of the two surgeons mentioned as well as the rest of the staff involved in my treatment at the Hull eye hospital.
All of the staff on wards 4 and 40 aswell as the staff on icu were amazing after my spinal surgery. I was looked after amazingly and everyone I came in to contact with treat me with great care, respect and dignity. I was in hospital for a week and although I was on pain meds they kept me and my wife informed of all decisions regarding my care.
I have revised Mr Gordins. His support staff, namely Kathryn , are caring too . A caring facility
I was admitted to Hull Royal as an emergency, and was an in-patient for approximately 10 days. Even though some treatment was very painful I was treated with kindness and respect.
Thanks very much everyone.
Although my appointment was cancelled with another consultant in the day, having waited over 6 months for it, the replacement appointment with another consultant was an excellent experience. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and the nursing team were lovely too.
Fantastic doctor. listened to my concerns regarding my health and discussed treatment plans and tests in great detail. Didn't make me feel rushed, or that I was just a number. Came away feeling reassured and positive. What a breath of fresh air
Very impressed with overall care from Dr Mehta, neurology nurses and reception staff.
