Professor Veale gets OCD and all its aspects and he makes other people get it. He is the expert. He was the only mental heallth professional I have dealt with when caring for my partner, who I felt fully understood his condition when others treated him with suspicion because of his unwanted thoughts and other symptoms common in OCD. I can’t explain my frustration of being confronted with ignorance about OCD in psychiatrists who have no real understanding of the condition, and the feeling we were not only fighting OCD but also fighting and educating the people who were supposed to treat it. Reading Prof. Veale’s publications and meeting him in person felt like coming back home. I finally didn’t have to explain anything - he just gets it.
