I had been recommended Professor Lloyd by one of his colleagues as one of leading specialist consultant surgeons for gall bladder complications. At the first consultation, he asked me to describe the problem and understand my medical history. After an examination he advised that I required a CT scan and that I would require another consultation with him once he had reviewed the scan results. At my second consultation, I was given a diagnosis and had the opportunity to ask questions to make sure that I understood the next steps and of the choices available to me. At both consultations I felt fully informed and comfortable discussing the procedure. One week later, Professor Lloyd carried out key hole (laparoscopic) surgery to remove my gall bladder. While I was admitted to hospital, he visited me a few hours before the surgery to explain what would happen and after the operation that evening to inform me that it had been successful. He also visited me the next morning to check how I was feeling before I was discharged from hospital. At my follow up consultation two weeks later I was advised that I had made a good recovery and was given guidance as to how long it would be before I could expect to resume all activities again (swimming and jogging) fully. I consider that I am extremely fortunate to have had my medical consultation and surgery carried out by an eminent, specialist consultant surgeon, who has an excellent reputation, delivers first rate care and who has a great rapport with his patients.
