Having been diagnosed with a potential Ovarian cancer following investigations, I only met Mr Ayakannu on the morning of my surgery in Aug. this what not a problem due to the excellent care I had received from the team up to this point. On the morning of the surgery his calm and considerate manner reassured me that all that could be done would be done and in his words " we would get through this". Following major survey he visited me on a daily basis and led and explained my care plan throughout. Even when some complications arose, he was there, true to his word to direct my treatment. His continual reassurance, professional but caring manner, calmed my anxieties at what was a very challenging and difficult period in my life. I knew whatever the outcome was , my care was in the hands of somebody I had complete confidence in and this was vital at this time as I continued with my physical recovery. A few weeks later the results were positive and he appeared as delighted as I was to be delivering this news and telling me to "enjoy life" I will remain eternally grateful to Mr Ayakannu, for his care and that of the team at the Womens Hospital , Liverpool.
