I have had 4 procedures with this surgeon, one of which was particularly tricky, all of which have had very satisfactory outcomes. The advantage of consultations with the surgeons at this hospital is that their notes are dictated in the presence of the patient. This means that the actual content of the eventual letter received by the patient is known. Interruptions for interrogation of specific medical terms, treatments, questions about adverse outcomes etc. can therefore be made during this time. This is something I learnt through time. When questioned, I was always given satisfactory responses. The patient has to learn to be pro-active in the procedure that is going to be performed on their body. If patients are going away a bit confused about something it may well be that the right questions have not been asked. On the flip side, the surgeon should maybe ascertain that the patient has understood everything before departure.
