This is more a reflection on all that I experienced on my recent visit to the Churchill and mirrors an E Mail I had sent following a previous visit in May 2020. Before I actually met with Mr Cudlip I had already had a very comprehensive telephone discussion with Dr Pal. On arrival at the Churchill I was met by a very professional young nurse who carried out a number of procedures and constantly kept me updated on what was happening and why and dealt with all my queries. I had a long discussion with a Doctor who asked a number of pertinent questions but more particularly gave me a thorough overview of the position and role of the pituitary gland and the impact that my tumour was having. The review with Mr Cudlip was concise and at no time did I feel I was being talked down to. The use of MRI screenshots was excellent and again helped me see the reality of the medical issues. The explanations of the medical procedures, the risks and benefits and the reasons why an early intervention was advisable all were all clearly expressed and helped me make an informed decision. Knowledge helps dispel fear, although I may be apprehensive about surgery I came away from the Churchill knowing that this was a Team of professional people that I could trust and I would be in good hands.
