I originally had a TKR in 2014. The outcome wasn't that great with ongoing pain and whilst the knee is better than pre-op it clearly isn’t up to par. My experience with Sam has been magnificent. The whole process from consultation to my position now, which is 5 months post op, has been 5 STAR. The knee, whilst having some way to go before full recovery, now allows me to walk, cycle and I have started jogging. I have 2 ski holidays booked for this season and all bodes well! It is better than I had anticipated in spite of Sam’s amazing reputation. In case you didn’t know, this is a very painful operation so be prepared for discomfort on a major scale. I suggest you insist on a comprehensive pain management program which the Horder Centre, I felt, might have handled better. Don’t be put off by my comments about the Horder centre, it is a brilliant establishment providing care to a very high standard. Just next time, should there be one, more Oramorph please! Nov 2018
