I underwent robotic surgery for quite advanced cancer of the womb in November 2020. My surgeon was Mr Saladin Sawan. Before the operation took place he took the time and trouble to explain in detail what would be involved. His manner whilst doing so was totally honest and at the same time very considerate. This inspired me to have great trust in him, which made the whole experience much easier. I know there are no guarantees that cancer will not return (especially at my age), but I feel I was very fortunate to have had this brilliant and very kind surgeon in charge of my treatment. Whatever happens in the future I am extremely grateful for the work he did to help me and I consider myself very lucky indeed to get this chance of recovery which his skill has undoubtedly afforded me. I intend to use this gift of some extra time on earth, which he and the whole team of people involved in my care have (hopefully) given me, to make any small difference I can to the quality of the lives of those many, many humans who are less fortunate than I am. P.S. Can I also be a little bit selfish and hope for some good things to lie ahead in my own life too,
