Rob Pollock was initially recommended to me in 2017 by a friend who was a semi-retired (now fully retired) GP. I had had a great deal of trouble with my knees for some 10 years or so at that point. Various treatments on the NHS over that period - cortisone injections, arthroscopic procedures to trim cartilage (meniscus?), etc. - had afforded me limited, if any, relief from my discomfort, and owing to my (relative!) youth (I was 59 in 2017) there appeared to be considerable reluctance on the part of the NHS consultant I'd been seeing to offer me replacement surgery. On consulting Mr Pollock, however, I was assured that such surgery would be possible, and under his care, in November, 2017, I underwent a unicompartmental right knee replacement (arthroplasty?), followed in November, 2019, by a total left knee replacement. In both cases the surgery has been a total success, and the debilitating pain from my arthritis has completely disappeared. At all stages in the process, from initial consultations and investigations, through the procedures themselves, the aftercare, and subsequent follow-up consultations, Mr Pollock has been friendly, courteous, sympathetic and fulsome in his explanations of what he proposed to do/had done. Moreover, where so many consultant surgeons can fall into the trap of being patronising or condescending to their patients, I never detected the slightest trace of that in Rob Pollock's manner. I rate him extremely highly, and would recommend him to anybody. Lee Power
