Our very sporty 13-year old son was diagnosed with a Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2019. In Ireland, the only surgical option we were given would have resulted in him losing his shoulder function. Luckily, we sought a second opinion from Mr Pollock and we travelled to see him in London in August. Our immediate impression was of a surgeon who was willing to engage directly with our son in a relaxed, non-superior manner, and clearly communicate the options available to him. Following consultation with his colleagues, a different form of surgery that would save his shoulder was recommended. We also had issues with completing formalities in Ireland ahead of surgery, and Mr Pollock’s assistant, Frankie, was hugely helpful to us. We travelled to RNOH Stanmore in October, when surgery took place. We were very impressed with Mr Pollock’s communication throughout that day, as it was an eight-hour surgical procedure. Since surgery, we have had issues with Irish orthopaedic follow-up, but Mr Pollock has always been more than willing to be available to us, and we have since travelled back to London to see him. We would highly recommend Mr Pollock to anyone, and our son’s story could have been a very different one had we not met him. Our 13-year old thinks that “Mr Pollock should be knighted as Sir Rob Pollock”!
