Mr Freeman operated on my left foot to correct a painful bunion deformity, which had worsened over the years, and remove a ganglion on top of my foot. After the operation my foot was bandaged and I was given a special shoe which allowed me to walk straight away. I left hospital the same day and rested at home for the next 2 weeks. I was able to hobble around the house and I was lucky enough to not be in any real pain. The wound healed quickly without any concerns. I saw Mr Freeman after 2 weeks when he removed the bandages and I continued to wear the special boot for another 3 weeks. I was able to wear a normal boot after around 5 weeks and I saw Mr Freeman again 10 weeks after the operation where an X-ray confirmed that my operation had been a success. Three months on and I have just returned to playing netball and I am able to walk long distances without any pain. My toe, which had turned sideways due to the bunion, is now completely straight and the bunion has been corrected. I have good movement in my foot and can stand on tiptoe. I have very minimal scarring. I can now wear trainers and Converse style shoes comfortably. Mr Freeman is an excellent and skilled surgeon, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone considering foot and ankle surgery.
