Initially I was seen by Mr Templeton-Ward's Registrar's Mr D Rossiter, who made a recommendation for a partial Knee replacement. This was confirmed at the time Mr Templeton-Ward. I was then placed on a waiting list and was operated on just two months later. I underwent the surgery with a spinal anaesthetic and was in recovery for about three hours. After transfer to the ward, the physiotherapists descended and had me walking with crutches in a few minutes. I completed all the exercises necessary to demonstrate my suitability for release and the doctor recommended my release that same day. Release was only delayed to the following day as the necessary medication could not be obtained in time. It is now two weeks since the operation and I have undergone a one mile walk without crutches. I have stopped pain killing medication and my rehabilitation proceed apace. I did not expect but am delighted by the very rapid return to near normality after the operation. From the start of the process the staff at The Royal Surrey County Hospital have been courteous and pleasant. The whole team from the nursing staff, anaesthetics and surgery, recovery and physiotherapy on the ward have been amazing and I cannot commend them highly enough.
