Mr Kang treated a particularly complex fracture of the humerus of a woman in her 70s, compounded by the fact that it was a stroke arm. The break was just below the ball and a first doctor expected it to self-heal, but in this case it failed to do so, leaving the lady in considerable pain for some months, with concomitant psychological stress. At a follow up appointment she saw Mr Kang, who requested the opportunity to operate himself. During a 3 hour procedure, Mr Kang took a graft from the iliac crest to enable pinning of the fracture. Post-operatively the lady suffered some pain to the pelvis, but not to the shoulder. Once that subsided she was a new woman! The pre- and post-operative X-rays demonstrate a most successful outcome, following a complex procedure.
