2nd April 2018

I had a severe knee problem and was seen by Mr Barkatali over an 18 month period. The service and care given to me was excellent. I was diagnosed as having damaged cartilage and arthritis. Injections and arthroscopy did not ease the problem. In discussion with my surgeon I was offered 3 options, half knee replacement, full knee replacement, or High Tibial Osteotomy. We jointly agreed that the best option was the High Tibial Osteotomy and I underwent surgery in April 2017. I was mobile within a couple of days and followed all the advice of Mr Barkatali in a lengthy recovery period. After the obvious pain following the operation the actual knee pain was no longer there and I could walk comfortably. The plate holding the leg in place created a few minor problems and was removed in February 2018 which resulted in my discharge and finally able to walk a full 18 holes of golf. I now feel the right decisions were taken and were successful. I am greatful to Mr Barkatali and his staff and the hospital and thank them for the treatment I received and their skill and care given and look forward to a few more years being able to do the golf, gardening and pain free holidays. Keep up the good work!!!
