I was referred to Mr Kunasingam by a specialist physiotherapist and can only say I am so very grateful for that referral and the subsequent treatments. My ankle arthritis, as a result of several sports injuries many years previously, had reached a stage where I was in daily pain and noticeably getting worse. Mr. Kunasingam explained his background, speciality in foot and ankle sporting injuries and took time to explain the factors around my injuries. He understood my frustrations at becoming limited in daily activities and was positive in his assessment he could help. We spent time in exploring the options (fusion or replacement) and I was encouraged to consult with a specialist ankle replacement surgeon, who confirmed Mr. Kunasingam's recommendation of keyhole ankle fusion surgery. The wait list was short and while my initial surgery was postponed due to COVID-19 and North Downs Hospital cancelling all operations, I was kept well informed and given a new date as soon as the hospital re-opened. After additional consultations, my fusion operation was carried out in April 2021. Mr. Kunasingam continued his excellent communication ahead of and immediately after the surgery and my short stay in the hospital (2 days/1 night) was safe and comfortable (I have reviewed the hospital separately). I have had regular ongoing consultations to check on my progress and at no stage felt as if I was "done and forgotten", rushed or left to my own recovery. My questions and any recovery concerns have all been addressed, as they have been throughout the whole process. Mr. Kunasingam is very calm and allayed my concerns about how to fully recover but without hiding any of the potential longer term side effects. To sum up, a long process involving a lot of work and time during which Mr. Kunasingam has always been encouraging and optimistic. One year on from the ankle fusion, I play golf weekly, swim, cycle and most of all enjoy day to day life again without the permanent and worsening pain I had before being fortunate enough for my referral to Mr. Kunasingam. Thank you!!
