I had suffered with an ankle/achilles tendon problem for some while and had various treatments ranging from physiotherapy to platelet replacement therapy. Nothing had really helped me long term and I was struggling to maintain the lifestyle I enjoyed and eventually had to give up tennis and hill-walking - even a round of golf was a painful struggle (ankle - not just my game!). I saw Mr Michael Crebbin at Oxted Therapies Unit (he was also fantastic) who suggested I needed a scan and then pending those findings, he would refer me to Mr Kunasingam, which he duly did. On meeting Mr Kunasigam I was immediately impressed by his manner which is confident and reassuring. There was no trace of arrogance and he came across as a really caring person who saw the patient in the whole and not just a collection of signs and symptoms. As a 68 year old I wanted to convince him that I was still fit and was desperate to get back to an active, sporting lifestyle. He needed no convincing - he fully understood and supported my aspirations. Eventually, when it was possible to begin operations again, he operated on me - excision of Haglund, decompression of Acilles and removal of bursa. Six weeks on I am walking reasonable distances and climbing moderate hills. I am cycling and training again. I haven't started tennis yet but should be able to do so in a few weeks. If travel is possible (Covid) I look forward to the ski season. Throughout this period Mr Kunasingam has tracked my progress and seen me several times offering advice and encouragement to allow me to exercise as much as possible. At all times he has involved me in decision making and has simply been really kind and attentive to what I want to achieve. I really can not offer any suggestions for improvement. He seemed like a good friend accompanying me on my recovery for which I am really grateful. If only he could also improve my golf... Alan
