I was seen by Dr Jude Jose as part of a fertility review after having suffered three miscarriages at 40 and 41. He misinterpreted a scan and said I had submucosal fibroids that needed resection that caused my miscarriage and to stop trying to conceive immediately, until I had them operated on. He recommended private surgery at the Spire with Stephen Burrell, his fellow NHS consultant at Luton. We waited several months until the hsyterscopy was booked in. It wasn't until they got me on the operating table that they realised that I didn't have submucosal fibroids to resect. I lost 5 months of fertility. The Spire consultant also confirmed that my anti-phospholipid antibodies result was a clear positive -- not a 'borderline' result as Dr Jose had mentioned. This can cause miscarriage and this combined with age is the likely factor. I felt emotionally exhausted and unable to go back to see Dr Jude Jose as I had lost complete trust. The consultant at the Spire said he didn't understand why he had a report from Luton Hospital saying I had submucosal fibroids. I was told just to carrying on trying to conceive by the Spire consultant and wished good luck. I spoke through my options with the GP at the time and she said I could make a further complaint further if I wanted, but having gone through a lot of trauma, I didn't want more. I just don't want others to go through something similar and end up childless.
