Mr Shaerf demonstrates professional excellence and presents the NHS at its very best. Having broken my wrist, I first met Mr Shaerf in the Fracture Clinic at Ealing Hospital. Realising that surgery was a necessity and not liking that at all, I was put at ease immediately by his no-nonsense and highly personable communication skills. I felt listened to, my fears and concerns were allayed fully by his clear, concise and reassuring explanations, and I left with complete confidence that I was in the very best hands. Surgery was no exception. We met at the hospital entrance the following morning, exchanging some casual conversation that I found genuine and highly respectful. Post surgery saw the same excellent combination of professionalism and personalisation when I was reassured that all went well. I met Mr Shaerf again for a follow-up appointment. He was equally impressive: exceptionally well prepared, extremely thorough and offered excellent jargon-free explanations, clear advice, and complete clarity for the way forward. His astute attention to detail, his genuine joy at my discharge, and being addressed by my first name did not go unnoticed. In all, my experience pre, during and post surgery was faultless. I wish everyone in my situation a Mr Shaerf!
