I was referred to Dr Fakouri after suffering for a number of years with sciatica pain in both my legs and buttocks, coupled over the last year with needles and pins and severe numbness in both feet. After a MRI scan and x-rays I was diagnosed with lower back and bilateral leg pain, as a result of severe spinal canal stenosis at the L4/5 and L3/4 and L2/3. I was then listed for an operation for discectomy and decompression at L4/5 and L3/4. The goal of this procedure was to decompress the neural structures and improve my symptoms in my buttocks, legs and feet. Upon first meeting Dr Fakouri I found him to be highly professional, articulate and supportive, calm, patient and knowledgeable, a good listener with a vast amount of knowhow, ability and experience in both orthopaedics and neurosurgery, making him highly skilled in the treatment of all spinal conditions. I instantly felt I was in safe hands with his reassuring explanations of surgical procedures, his viewpoints, honesty and courteous demeanour. A wonderful man who is humble, respectful and caring, likable, sincere and charming. I have to mention also Dr Fakouri’s delightful, experienced and brilliant consultant physiotherapist, Rashida Pickford. Rashida’s many amazing qualities combined with her ability and enthusiasm to help and explain complex processes and outcomes in a clear and understandable manner made her an absolute joy to speak with. My operation was a complete success in respect of the pain and mobility in my back and legs and my wound healed completely with no problems. My balance was better but not great as I still had considerable numbness in my feet, which was due to having the operation so late in relation to my condition. This will hopefully improve over the next few months and with the correct physiotherapy and exercise should get back to normal over time. Therefore I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Fakouri to anyone looking for a brilliant, exceptionally talented and gifted surgeon to perform any type of surgical operation to the spine.
