I was diagnosed with colon cancer in Christmas 2000. I was recommended by Mr West to have a Tamis procedure which obviated the need for a colostomy bag. This was music to my ears.
The procedure was done in March 2021, and my subsequent care by Mr Gupta’s team has been exemplary. I have only experienced very minor problems since the operation. When I consider the alternative, the whole Journey although daunting at the outset has been completely positive, and I am delighted with the results.

Thank you very much for your positive remarks and I am so pleased to learn that you are doing well and that we managed to preserve the organ (rectum) and its function without needing a major surgery or a stoma for a diagnosis of rectal cancer. For lay people - let me explain that TAMIS is Trans Anal Minimally Invasive Surgery for an early stage rectal cancer which can be removed through a key hole surgery within the rectum avoiding a resectional surgery and abdominal approach. You then needed chemoradiation after the surgery and we will continue to keep an eye for 5 years. This is not possible in every rectal cancer but early diagnosis is the key to success!
