I developed coccydynia following the birth of my child in 2021. After trying physiotherapy, I was fortunate to be able to have more investigations into my pain and went to see Mr Saxena. I really valued the clear and thorough explanations of why I might be experiencing pain; insight into that area of the body and the next steps. Communication was great throughout.
I was admitted for a day procedure at Manchester Spire and underwent manual manipulation of the coccyx and ganglion impar block - an injection of local anaesthetic and steroid around the nerves supplying the coccyx - under sedation. I was really nervous about the procedure as it's a sensitive area. But Mr Saxena put me at ease; explained everything to me. The whole team at Spire was great and it was really quick and efficient!
I'm now fully discharged with no pain! Really happy and feel really lucky to have received that level of care.
