I was absolutely disappointed with Miss Bevan. I came to her for help when I was suffering with severe pain and discomfort. She told me that all the pain I was experiencing was in my head. She even wrote a letter to my GP and to me explaining that I was confused and my pain was somatic. I am not a 'confused' person and have been described by doctors as sensible and intelligent. When she asked me if I wanted to have children, I replied 'I hope so' she said that my husband and I should do more about it, make love more often and have a good think about whether we want children or not! I was absolutely gobsmacked that a professional doctor to speak to a patient in such a manner. I was sent for a laproscopy, luckily, I had a phone call to ask me if I wouldn't mind having another gynaecologist to perform the operation as Miss Bevan was unable to fit me in on that day. I jumped at the chance, I was so worried about meeting her again. After everything was done, I was told that I did indeed have endometriosis, including some on my bladder. I felt so relieved and happy that I had finally been treated and listened to. The pain was not in my head, that insult had really hurt me and still does today, some 2 years later.
